CCA South celebrates CTAE week
The College and Career Academy South celebrated CTAE week with events and fun! Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education increases graduation rates and improves academic performance through meaningful experiences, thus improving the quality of their education, engaging students, preparing them for careers and post-secondary education, and giving all students leadership opportunities in their fields and in their communities.
The theme for CTAE week was “My Future is Under Construction at CCA.” Below are the daily events:
Monday: The students worked together to solve a cold case murder provided by the Law and Public Safety Pathway.
Tuesday: The Healthcare Pathway students checked blood pressure for students and faculty, along with a “My Future is Bright” neon dress-up day. We also had a visit from the Army National Guard that included a push-up challenge. Tuesday night we hosted a Parent Night for rising 9th-grade students and their families. The Healthcare students were also there to do blood pressure checks for our visitors.
Wednesday: The Culinary Pathway students had a mac and cheese cooking competition. 1st block winners were Ja'neja Williams, Jennifer Bade, and Jaynee' North. 2nd block winner was Faith Sanford. The students and staff also had a career dress-up day.
Thursday: The CCA South Car Show was provided by the students in the Automotive Pathway. The winners were: Classic Car: Ethan Barr CHS, Sporty Car or Truck: David Mejia-Velazquez BHS, and Ugly Truck: Cade McGraw MZ.
Friday: The week ended with a Robot Rumble by the Vex Robotics team from our Engineering Pathway and a school spirit day complete with a hamburger and hot dog cookout.
Throughout the week, students from the Graphic Design Pathway were responsible for designing the posters and flyers for advertising the events. Our Education Pathway and Information Technology Pathway students coordinated two graffiti walls where students were able to write positive words that described their time at CCA and their futures. The Audio Video and Film students took photos and filmed the events each day.
