Healthcare Science provides challenging academic courses, relevant on-the-job experience, and specialized technical skills needed for careers in the medical field. Students build solid math, science, reading, writing, and communication skills, with an emphasis on developing the problem- solving and decision-making skills required in the healthcare industry. Classroom knowledge and skills are put into practice through clinical experiences that range from Healthcare Science internships to paid positions through the Youth Apprenticeship Program including Tanner Connections. By working in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, daycare centers, nursing homes, elementary school clinics, physician offices, and rehabilitation centers, students have the opportunity to explore the wide range of careers available in the field.

Additional activities are offered through the Healthcare Science CTSO, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). This organization promotes leadership and provides competitive event opportunities at the local, state, and national levels.
